Agra is an ancient city, mentioned in the Mahabharata and came into the limelight during the reign of the Mughals.

It is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Taj Mahal. The Taj is a monument of such incredible elegance that it is considered synonymous with beauty itself.
The Taj Mahal is pure poetry in marble, majesty and magnificence unrivalled.
The monument is a labour of love of a great ruler for his beloved queen, the ultimate realisation of Emperor Shah Jehan’s dream. From 1631 A.D., it took 22 years in the making. An estimated 20,000 people worked to complete the enchanting mausoleum, on the banks of the Yamuna River.

The Taj Mahal is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and is widely recognized as “the jewel of Muslim art in India”. It is one of the world’s most celebrated structures and a symbol of India’s rich history. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, the Taj Mahal attracts some 3 million visitors a year.
